What we collect
We collect information needed to operate LingoNova and the learning features you choose to use:
- Account information: email address, account identifier, login method, language preferences, and account settings.
- Learning data: lessons, folders, vocabulary, saved phrases, progress, mastery levels, translations, and the content you choose to save.
- Extension content: the current page URL, selected text, subtitle cues, comic regions, and other page content only when needed for an enabled LingoNova feature such as creating a lesson, translating content, displaying an overlay, or showing subtitle availability.
- Files and requests: PDFs, EPUBs, images, and text you upload or submit for processing, plus the resulting lesson content.
- Subscription and technical data: plan status, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, device/browser settings, and limited operational logs needed to secure and improve the service.
How we use information
We use this information to authenticate you, create and sync lessons, provide translations and text-to-speech, show learning overlays, retain your vocabulary and progress, process subscriptions, prevent abuse, and support the service. We do not sell personal information or use your learning content for advertising.
When information is shared
We use service providers that process information only to operate LingoNova:
- Supabase provides authentication, database, storage, and server functions.
- Stripe processes subscription payments. LingoNova does not store full payment-card details.
- AI and language providers, including OpenRouter-backed models and Google services where a feature requires them, process only the content submitted for translation, definitions, OCR, or document processing.
- Puter may process text-to-speech requests when you select its optional premium TTS service.
We may also disclose information if required to comply with law, enforce our terms, protect users, or respond to a valid legal request.
Browser extension and Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The extension needs broad site access because it can add learning tools to the page you are viewing. It does not collect unrelated browsing data for advertising or profiling. You can disable an extension feature, remove site access, or uninstall the extension at any time.
Retention, security, and your choices
We retain your account and learning data while your account is active, unless a longer period is required for legal, fraud-prevention, or billing reasons. Data is transmitted over HTTPS and access is limited to service providers and personnel who need it to operate the service.
You can update account preferences in Settings, cancel a paid subscription through the billing portal, and request deletion of your account and associated learning data through our Account Deletion page. You may also have privacy rights under applicable law, including rights to access, correct, delete, or export certain information.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when LingoNova or applicable requirements change. Material changes will be posted here. For privacy questions, support requests, or rights requests, use the instructions on our Support page.
